Locked-In Syndrome

enclosed()

Enclosed is an interactive art installation from Emergence, a multidisciplinary TU Delft Dream Team, that explores the lived experience of locked-in syndrome — focusing on themes like connection, isolation, and the human need for expression. It encourages visitors to reflect on the fragility of communication and the value of everyday interaction.

As lead concept designer, I guided the team and was responsible for the creative direction and design of the installation. Sketches investigated how optical limitations and lowered perspectives can simulate the depersonalized, fragmentary experience of a bed-ridden patient.
